12-Month Fixed-Term Opportunity

We are pleased to announce an opening for a dedicated and empathetic Psychological Support Assistant to contribute significantly to the delivery of formulation-driven brief psychological interventions within our innovative Psychological Skills Service (PSS).

The PSS has been established as part of a transformative initiative within the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), recognized by NHS England as a leading pilot site for the enhancement of primary and community mental health services.

This transformation aims to create a more integrated mental health care system, addressing existing gaps in service provision.

The PSS is designed to fill these gaps, offering interventions for individuals who may not have access to adequate support between primary and secondary care.

As a member of our multidisciplinary team, which includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Associate Psychologists, and Support Workers, you will play a vital role in our mission.

Your daily responsibilities will encompass:

  • Implementing brief psychological interventions, particularly those aimed at assisting individuals during the stabilization phase of recovery from complex trauma.
  • Co-facilitating therapeutic groups, such as 'Understanding and Coping with Trauma.'
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of interventions through the management of outcome measurement processes.
  • Actively participating in the PSS 'Neurodiversity Pathway.'
  • Conducting screenings for ASD/ADHD.
  • Supporting clients in recognizing how ADHD/ASD traits influence their daily functioning to collaboratively develop personalized support plans.
  • Leading educational sessions relevant to Neurodivergence.
  • Assisting the team in creating new materials, including conducting literature reviews.

Comprehensive training and ongoing supervision by a qualified clinical psychologist will be provided to ensure you feel confident in your role and to support your professional growth.

Cambridgeshire & Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to enhance the health and well-being of the communities we serve, while empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives.

These services encompass mental and physical health for children, adults, and older individuals, as well as forensic and specialist mental health, learning disabilities, primary care, liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, social care, and research and development.

To fulfill our mission, we seek to recruit talented individuals who share our vision and values.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups, including individuals with disabilities and members of ethnic minorities and LGBTQ+ communities.

Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for comprehensive details regarding responsibilities.

Note: This role requires independent travel across the county, and candidates must possess a full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
