About the Position
The Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst will report directly to the Head of Software Asset Management. This role is crucial in overseeing all functions that enhance the value, cost-effectiveness, and risk management of the software asset lifecycle, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the business. The SAM Analyst will keep track of software agreements and renewal obligations to guarantee compliance while promoting efficiencies through license optimization.

Key Responsibilities
The SAM Analyst will manage and supervise the Software Asset portfolio. This includes ensuring adherence to licensing agreements and entitlements through collaboration with stakeholders in IT, the broader organization, and relevant third parties.

The responsibilities also encompass ensuring that initiatives aimed at driving optimization and compliance are executed and communicated effectively.

Specific Duties Include:
- Maintaining the Software Usage policy and procedures to ensure they are current, relevant, and accessible to the wider IT community.
- Overseeing software entitlements to ensure all inventories and modifications are managed diligently and in accordance with licensing terms and policies.
- Promoting and implementing strict governance throughout the software lifecycle.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance value and improve the performance of the existing and potential software portfolio, including driving innovation in processes, reducing costs by decommissioning unused software, mitigating risks, enhancing performance, and fostering competition among qualified suppliers.
- Establishing a formal software asset management framework for all pertinent software across the organization.
- Demonstrating hands-on experience in generating executive and operational dashboards and reports.
- Leading external software compliance audits for Tier 1 and Tier 2 software suppliers, achieving successful outcomes.
- Possessing strong knowledge of Effective Licensing Position (ELP) for common Tier 1 software products (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Adobe).
- Demonstrating proficiency in budget and cost management.
- Understanding procurement and supplier commercial principles.
- Familiarity with cloud service-based consumption models (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS).
- Holding professional certifications related to Software Asset Management (e.g., IAITAM, CSAM, or equivalent, Microsoft MCP), with ITIL V3 being desirable.

Qualifications
- Proven ability to lead software entitlement processes, including reporting.
- Capability to continuously develop and embed Software Asset Management practices, processes, and reporting across the organization.
- Strong understanding of licensing and deployment models.
- Demonstrated knowledge of techniques to optimize licensing and deployment for cost savings.
- Understanding of supplier governance and its implications for Software Asset Management.
- Knowledge of vendor audit and compliance strategies and processes to effectively manage inquiries and engagements.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in SAM-related roles.
