Position Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, and forward-thinking paediatric nurses to join our children's specialty. Our paediatric emergency services cater to a varied population across multiple sites.

We provide a comprehensive preceptorship program for newly qualified nurses, and for those with experience seeking a new opportunity, we offer support and development to help you reach your full potential.

Full-time positions are available within the Paediatric Emergency Department.

Main Responsibilities

* Familiarize yourself with local policies and Trust procedures.

* Recognize your own training and developmental needs within the clinical setting.

* Deliver patient care based on the philosophy of individualized care.

* Engage in Health Education initiatives.

* Communicate changes in patient care to other staff members promptly.

* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.

* Uphold patient confidentiality rights.

* Adhere to the 'Code of Professional Conduct' in all duties.

* Maintain professional accountability for all actions during your shift.

* Supervise student nurses and healthcare assistants in providing patient care.

* Be knowledgeable about Area Child Protection Committee policies and procedures and take appropriate action to safeguard children.

* Comply with the Trust Infection Control Policy and attend required training.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Paediatric Nurse on the NMC register

Desirable

  • Healthcare management or leadership qualification

Experience

Essential

  • Significant post-registration experience in a complex healthcare environment or Acute NHS care setting, including supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Demonstrated professional and clinical knowledge in the area, supplemented by specialist training and continuing professional development.
  • Ability to serve as a practice-based supervisor or assessor in accordance with NMC standards.
  • A professional portfolio showcasing ongoing professional development and evidence of maintaining professional registration.
  • Relevant and recent clinical experience within the specialty or acute care setting, including the education and supervision of junior staff.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate a shift or area within the department.
  • Experience in learning from incidents and complaints, and implementing changes in practice.
  • Demonstrable skills in leadership, team building, resource management, time management, role modeling, change management, clinical governance, audit and research, and workforce planning.
  • Awareness of NHS policy and political landscape.
