About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Children's Nurse to join our Children's Rapid Response Service as a Band 6 Nurse. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to children with complex healthcare needs in their own homes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Practice and Scope of Professional Practice.
  • Provide a calm and supportive approach to the management and delivery of sensitive and complex information.
  • Use effective communication techniques to communicate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the child and family receive the best possible care.
  • Undertake risk assessments prior to service delivery within the home setting to ensure staff safety.
  • Work in partnership with children, families, and carers to provide optimum individual outcomes.
  • Formulate individualized management and treatment plans using sound knowledge and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide timely, effective symptom management, resulting from a comprehensive history taking.
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent inappropriate admissions and reduce length of hospital stay.
  • Ensure assessment, planning, and delivery of holistic care is of the highest standard.
  • Liaise and work in collaboration with acute services, primary healthcare teams, and other agencies to facilitate early discharge and prevent admissions.
Requirements
  • RSCN/RN Child Branch qualification.
  • ENB 998 (Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice) or equivalent.
  • Community Children's Nursing qualification or equivalent.
  • Clinical assessment course equivalent.
  • Independent supplementary prescriber or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with children with complex healthcare needs/life-limiting/threatening illnesses and end-of-life care.
  • Significant experience of working as a Children's Nurse either RSCN/RN Child.
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to manage a team on a day-to-day basis in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of standard setting and audit processes.
