Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Children's Complex Care Senior Nurse to join our team at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care and advice to staff, children, and families with complex healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Practice and Scope of Professional Practice.
- Have a good understanding of managing Children and Young People (CYP) with complex healthcare needs, and the processes of continuing healthcare funding.
- Provide clinical expertise to staff caring for children and young people requiring long-term ventilated.
- Provide comprehensive evidenced-based and skilled nursing care to children within their own home and/or other community settings.
- Work with the service clinical manager to maintain and improve the quality of practice and service delivery.
- Identify alongside the service clinical lead training requirements for Children's Complex Care service.
- Responsible for ensuring assessments, planning, and delivery of holistic care is at the highest standard using an agreed nursing model.
- Ensure that Essential Care Indicators (ECIs) are completed and acted upon to ensure improvements are made within a timely manner.
- Support equality and diversity when engaging in professional duties with clients and in all working relationships. Ensure the cultural, religious, and spiritual needs of CYP and their families are considered through all aspects of their care.
- Delegate and monitor the individual caseload of team members for effective and timely caseload management and reporting to the service manager activity data and will alert them to areas of clinical risk.
- Liaise with and work in collaboration with acute services, the primary healthcare team, and other agencies when planning and implementing programmes of care.
- Recognise situations that may be detrimental to the child's physical and psychological well-being, and to deal with individual situations according to Trust and local agency policies.
- Undertake risk assessments prior to service delivery within the home setting to ensure staff safety.
Responsibilities for Safeguarding Children:
- Ensure all staff attend required training.
- Ensure staff receive safeguarding supervision.
