Position Overview

The therapy team at Barts Health NHS Trust is known for its innovative and collaborative approach, working in synergy with various healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient-focused care.

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to become part of our enthusiastic and skilled therapy team. The Band 6 rotation spans 9 months and encompasses the following areas:

· Respiratory Care - including Tracheostomy management, Surgery, Cardiology, ICU, HDU, and Outpatient Bronchiectasis clinic

· Elective Orthopaedics and day surgery at the leading Orthopaedic Centre

· Elective Orthopaedics and Bone & Joint Health Research

· Musculoskeletal Outpatient Services

· Combined Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic rotation

· Stroke and Neurosciences

· Services for Older Adults, covering both acute and rehabilitation therapy

· Acute Assessment Unit

Our Band 6 development program includes:

· Regular clinical training tailored for Band 6 physiotherapists across various sites

· Simulation training aimed at enhancing crisis resource management skills

· Advanced training in tracheostomy care

· Access to a wide range of courses through the Barts Health Leadership Academy, including ILM level 3 courses

· HR training to competently navigate policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities

To deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service to patients within the Acute & Outpatient Therapy Teams, contributing to weekend and on-call service delivery.

Essential Criteria

Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council

Desirable Criteria

Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential Criteria

Relevant post-registration experience as a Physiotherapist. Experience in relevant clinical settings: Respiratory, Neurology, Surgery, MSK. Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with HCPC recommendations Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in audit/research. Experience in emergency out-of-hours service provision. Relevant NHS or similar experience.

Desirable Criteria

Membership in a specific interest group. Committee involvement, such as Risk Management Advice, and providing training and support to junior staff, assistants, and students.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

In-depth knowledge of Risk Management Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics. Broad knowledge of current best practices in physiotherapy across acute, community, and rehabilitation settings. Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services. Understanding and compliance with Data Protection & Confidentiality regulations.

Ability to deliver training both internally and externally. Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. Proficient in maintaining accurate and legible patient records. Ability to apply current best practices in physiotherapy across various settings. Competency in respiratory care to perform emergency physiotherapy duties. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to supervise junior staff, assistants, and students. Effective team collaboration skills. Flexibility and reliability in work. Ability to build trust with patients.
