Job Overview

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Physiotherapist to become part of our dedicated and enthusiastic therapy team. This role involves participating in a structured rotation lasting 9 months, which encompasses various specialties:

  • Respiratory care, including management of tracheostomy, surgery, cardiology, ICU, HDU, and outpatient bronchiectasis clinic.
  • Elective Orthopaedics and day surgery at the leading Orthopaedic Centre.
  • Research in Elective Orthopaedics and Bone & Joint Health.
  • Musculoskeletal outpatient services.
  • Combined rotation in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedic care.
  • Stroke and Neurosciences.
  • Services for Older People, including acute and rehabilitation therapy.
  • Acute Assessment Unit.

Development Program

Our Band 6 development program offers:

  • Regular clinical training tailored for Band 6 physiotherapists across various sites.
  • Simulation training aimed at enhancing crisis resource management skills.
  • Advanced training in tracheostomy care.
  • Access to a wide range of courses through the Barts Health Leadership Academy, including ILM level 3 courses.
  • HR training to effectively navigate policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

The role involves delivering a high standard of physiotherapy services to patients within the Acute & Outpatient Therapy Teams, including contributing to weekend and on-call service provisions.

Essential Criteria

  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council.

Desirable Criteria

  • Membership in the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant post-registration experience as a Physiotherapist.
  • Experience in clinical settings such as Respiratory, Neurology, Surgery, and MSK.
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with HCPC recommendations.
  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Involvement in audit or research activities.
  • Experience in emergency out-of-hours service provision.
  • Relevant NHS or equivalent experience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Membership in a specific interest group.
  • Committee involvement, such as Risk Management Advice or training and support for junior staff, assistants, and students.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Risk Management.
  • Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics.
  • Broad knowledge of current best practices in physiotherapy across acute, community, and rehabilitation settings.
