Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor of Counselor Education and Graduate Program Director for the Master of Counselor Education Program at Widener University. This is a 10-month non-tenure track position that reports to the Director of the Center for Social Work Education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses on campus and online, including course development and implementation.
  • Serve as graduate program director, collaborating with Graduate Admissions and Enrollment on recruitment and admission of students.
  • Contribute to scholarship through presentations and/or publications, maintaining currency in the academic discipline.
  • Pursue service and leadership opportunities within the Program, Center, College, University, and profession.
Essential Duties
  • Manage scheduling and course delivery, providing leadership in course development and implementation.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and student assessment, using faculty development opportunities and teacher effectiveness tools to improve teaching.
  • Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for students and/or student organizations.
  • Maintain regular office hours, identifying students who are struggling and need extra attention or support.
Service and Scholarship
  • Participate in professional activities and service to the University, College, Center, and the profession.
  • Attend all university academic events as required by the faculty handbook.
  • Attend all University, College, Center, and Program faculty meetings.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience, qualifications, and record of teaching excellence and scholarship for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor rank.
  • Experience in higher education in recruitment and retention of students.
