Widener University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Professor of Counselor Education and Graduate Program Director for the Master of Counselor Education Program. This role reports to the Director of the Center for Social Work education.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds can thrive. The Center for Social Work within the College of Health and Human Services is dedicated to promoting an inclusive culture that supports the work of faculty and staff members across the institution.

The candidate is required to have a master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university. A doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses on campus and online, serving as the graduate program director, contributing to scholarship through presentations and/or publications, and pursuing service and leadership opportunities within the Program, Center, College, University, and profession.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as graduate program director, collaborating with Graduate Admissions and Enrollment regarding recruitment and admission of students in the Master of Counselor Education Program.
  • Manage scheduling and course delivery, providing leadership in course development and implementation.
  • Teach courses on campus and online, demonstrating effectiveness in teaching and student assessment.
  • Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for students and/or student organizations.
  • Maintain regular office hours, guiding or supporting students who reach out for assistance.
  • Participate in professional activities and service to the University, College, Center, and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Hold a LPC, licensed professional counselor.
  • Experience, qualifications, and record of teaching excellence and scholarship for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor NTT rank.
  • Experience in higher education in recruitment and retention of students.
