Job Title: Associate Professor in Education

Widener University is seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor in Education to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses on campus and online, serving as the graduate program director, contributing to scholarship through presentations and/or publications, and pursuing service and leadership opportunities within the Program, Center, College, University, and profession.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as graduate program director, collaborating with Graduate Admissions and Enrollment to recruit and admit students in the Master of Counselor Education Program.
  • Teach courses on campus and online, managing scheduling and course delivery, and providing leadership in course development and implementation.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in teaching and student assessment, using faculty development opportunities and teacher effectiveness tools to improve teaching.
  • Serve as academic advisor and/or mentor for students and/or student organizations.
  • Maintain regular office hours, identifying students who are struggling and need extra attention or support to be successful.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university required.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Experience, qualifications, and record of teaching excellence and scholarship for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor rank.
  • Experience in higher education in recruitment and retention of students.
