Widener University's School of Engineering is seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Mechanical Engineering Department as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service while actively participating in the collaborative and engaging environment of Widener University.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses, with a focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses.
  • Foster a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Research:

  • Conduct and publish impactful scholarly research in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
  • Actively seek external funding to support research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the department and across disciplines to contribute to the academic and research community.

Service:

  • Engage in departmental, school, and university service activities.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the School of Engineering.
  • Participate in committee work, student advising, and other service responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Prior teaching experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research, with a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Proven ability or potential to secure external funding to support research initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, research, and service.
