About the Role:

Widener University's School of Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and motivated academic professional to join its Mechanical Engineering Department as a tenure-track faculty member. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching: Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses, with a focus on thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses.
  • Research: Conduct and publish impactful scholarly research in the field of Mechanical Engineering, actively seeking external funding to support research initiatives.
  • Service: Engage in departmental, school, and university service activities, contributing to the development and improvement of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the School of Engineering.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other faculty members to enhance the department's presence within the School of Engineering and Widener University.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in Mechanical Engineering through continuous professional development, attending conferences, workshops, and seminars to enrich teaching and research activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior teaching experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and fundamental engineering courses is preferred.
  • Research Record: Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research, with a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and conferences.
  • Funding Experience: Proven ability or potential to secure external funding to support research initiatives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative academic environment.
