Job Overview

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Compensation: Base salary ranging from £40,750 to approximately £50,950 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, a flexible benefits fund of 20% is provided on top of the base salary, which is fully pensionable, along with a variety of competitive benefits detailed on our website.

Role Responsibilities:

Pre-Contract Activities
  • Developing commercial documentation, reviewing inputs from various departments, and drafting contract agreements to ensure coherence with procurement strategies.
Procurement Duties
  • Evaluating bids and facilitating moderation processes to secure contract awards.
  • Assisting in the formulation of contract management strategies.
Post-Contract Responsibilities
  • Providing commercial assurance to the Head of Commercial regarding all delivery-related commercial activities, including:
  • Managing and overseeing contract administration to ensure effective commercial governance;
  • Administering the obligations of the Project Manager under the NEC3 Contract, which includes:
o Assessing variations and compensation events

o Managing contract payments

o Evaluating performance incentives
  • Ensuring thorough cost verification;
  • Analyzing monthly supply chain reports to enhance performance;
  • Inputting contract-level performance data into monthly management reports;
  • Participating in and contributing to monthly contract and program performance evaluations and other reviews, supporting final cost estimate updates;
  • Assisting in the resolution of supply chain disputes;
  • Providing day-to-day contract and commercial advice to the client team;
  • Identifying opportunities for project savings and supporting the development of proposals for approval;
  • Fostering a collaborative culture within the Integrated Project Team (IPT) that promotes innovation, enhances functional capabilities, and embeds industry best practices;
  • Maintaining strong commercial relationships with key contractors;
  • Reviewing estimates at all project stages.
Leadership Duties
  • Leading and reviewing project estimates.
  • Providing secondary corporate governance approval for changes and risk management in line with corporate standards.
  • Overseeing commercial resources, setting objectives, and managing performance to ensure team members possess the necessary skills and support.
  • Contributing domain expertise to the development and maintenance of effective contract and commercial management policies and procedures.
  • Actively promoting and integrating Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles in all work and adhering to organizational EDI policies.

  • Proficient in managing high-value and critical delivery contracts for major infrastructure projects.
  • Experienced in developing commercial strategies for capital projects.
  • Adept at managing effective, value-driven relationships with supply chains.
  • Skilled in negotiating with internal and external stakeholders and resolving disputes.
  • Capable of managing stakeholder relationships to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Experienced in developing commercial policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in contract, commercial, and risk management.
