About Us

Midland Metro Alliance is a leading provider of commercial services to the rail industry. We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our team and lead our commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the commercial team working on a portfolio of multidisciplinary light rail projects.
  • Raise commercial awareness and embed commercial focus and best practice across each project team.
  • Lead on all contractual matters from inception to close out, ensuring maximum commercial results.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and drawings.
  • Manage the Risk & Opportunities process to identify and mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Set and manage budgets, ensuring accurate allocation of costs and robust project life cycle cost forecasts.
  • Proactively drive the recording of contractual entitlements and ensure timely notification of events.
  • Establish and maintain rigorous cost controls, including early warning systems and provide accurate financial data and management reports.
  • Provide procurement support to ensure projects are delivered safely, timely, at the least cost, and to optimal quality.
  • Negotiate and agree contractual disputes and final accounts within DFA levels.
  • Manage and mentor junior commercial staff.

Requirements

  • Working in a finance or commercial function within the engineering or construction sector, with hands-on experience working for contractors as a Commercial Manager on large civils or infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of finance systems and various forms of contracts.
  • Cost and budget administration.
  • Financial and commercial reporting to board level.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
  • Minimum 5 years Commercial Management experience as an SQS or QS with a proven track record in major projects.
