Position Overview: The Inclusion and Involvement service (I&I) has been collaboratively developed with service users and Probation Service London (PSL) to align with desistance principles as part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway.

The OPD Pathway programme caters to individuals with intricate psychological challenges and significant offending backgrounds, alongside the multi-agency professionals involved (NHS, Probation Service London, and HM Prison Service).

The I&I team concentrates on two interconnected domains:

  • Social Inclusion: Addressing the needs of individuals reintegrating into the community from custody, employing a relational and psychologically informed methodology to assist individuals in discovering community, purpose, and belonging.
  • Service User Involvement: Ensuring that the voices and experiences of service users are central to decision-making and operational practices within the service.

This involvement can range from informal suggestions to volunteering opportunities, ad hoc contributions with reimbursement, and substantial paid roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of Peer Support initiatives, establishing the Trust as a leader in this area.
  • Support and facilitate collaborative efforts with ELFT staff and Peer Support Workers.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive training programme for Peer Support Workers.
  • Advance Peer Support Work as a recognized profession.
  • Engage with service users, carers, and staff to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, consistent service.
  • Participate as a leader in the Trust Quality Improvement Programme, contributing to QI initiatives.
  • Conduct face-to-face peer support work with service users, managing a reduced caseload.
  • Provide training to frontline staff on best practices.
  • Challenge substandard practices and propose innovative alternatives.
  • Promote membership opportunities for service users and carers, encouraging their active participation.
  • Advocate for transparency and accountability within the organization.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Manage and communicate highly complex and sensitive information, employing persuasive and empathetic skills as necessary.
  • Establish effective, non-coercive relationships with local service users, professionals, and community groups, fostering beneficial two-way communication.

Administrative Duties:

  • Gather and present information related to people participation for the locality/service to staff and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Trust externally, enhancing our profile and sharing best practices.
  • Ensure systems are in place for service users to engage fully in the development and evaluation of participation work.
  • Develop project and training plans to advance Lived Experience Work.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a specific function or department within Human Resources.

Human Resources Duties:

  • Develop policies and procedures related to Lived Experience Work, fostering an open and inclusive culture within the Trust.
  • Provide guidance on the identification, development, and review of Trust policies regarding Lived Experience.
  • Initiate and sustain cultural changes necessary to embrace Lived Experience Work.

Financial and Physical Resources:

  • Utilize computer skills effectively.
  • Travel between teams and services as required.
  • Set up necessary equipment for meetings and training sessions.
  • Occasionally manage exposure to challenging working conditions.
