London, Greater London, United Kingdom VMA GROUP Full time

VMA GROUP is proud to partner with Stonewall, a leading LGBTQ+ rights organisation, to recruit a Head of Policy and Public Affairs to support its work in advancing and defending LGBTQ+ rights.

Stonewall's mission is to create a world where everyone, everywhere is free to be themselves, without fear of persecution or discrimination.

This role will play a critical part in achieving this mission by leading the delivery of Stonewall's policy and advocacy work to advance and defend LGBTQ+ rights in Parliament, across the nations, and with the UK Government.

Reporting to the Director of Campaigns and Human Rights, you will manage a team to deliver Stonewall's vision, using your specialist experience to develop and implement effective policy and advocacy strategies.

You will need to have demonstrable experience at a national level in a charity, membership organisation, or similar, with a proven track record of delivering impactful public-facing campaigns.

For a senior role in public affairs, you will need to have a deep understanding of Westminster and the ability to leverage your knowledge of government to secure and deliver change.

In this role, you will be accountable for building and maintaining key relationships with UK Government and political stakeholders, ensuring that Stonewall's policy priorities are represented and advanced.

You will also be responsible for ensuring that the organisation is contributing to the development of effective policy positions, arguments, and outputs to build support for its thought leadership work across the UK.

With responsibility for a team of direct reports, you will need to have the ability to support and develop teams in transition, with an empathetic and inclusive approach, and role-model the charity's values and standards of behaviour.

You will need to ensure that the voices of all communities Stonewall represents, and their allies, are heard in the decisions it makes, with a particular focus on trans and BAME communities who have historically been excluded.

This is a unique opportunity to take on a role at the cutting edge of an organisation that really matters to millions of people, where the work you do will have real impact, nationally and internationally.
