Job Responsibilities
As a Correctional Supervision Officer, you will provide essential oversight to Corrections Officers and Trainees within a correctional facility. Your role will involve supervising and guiding staff during your assigned shift to maintain a secure and safe environment. Effective communication with management, staff, visitors, and the public is crucial. You will lead and mentor your team, ensuring they complete necessary training while fostering a productive workforce.
Essential Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, along with a valid Driver's License and current DCJS certifications. A solid understanding of correctional policies and procedures is required, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to supervise and plan the work of others. Proficiency in reading and comprehending workplace policies and the ability to prepare reports is essential. Furthermore, candidates must be capable of following and providing clear oral and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Coursework in criminal justice or a related field from a community college, college, or university, or equivalent training or experience is advantageous. Candidates should also have the ability to produce written reports using a computer and fluency in Spanish is a plus.
