Correctional Supervision Officer

Job Responsibilities
As a key member of the corrections team, you will provide essential first-line oversight to Corrections Officers and Trainees within a correctional facility. Your role will involve supervising and monitoring personnel during your assigned shift to maintain a secure and safe environment. Effective communication with management, staff, visitors, and the public is crucial. You will also lead and mentor staff, ensuring they are well-prepared for their duties. Completing mandatory training and fostering a productive workforce will be part of your daily responsibilities.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Driver's License, and current DCJS certifications. A solid understanding of correctional policies, procedures, and practices is necessary. The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, alongside demonstrated skills in organizing, planning, scheduling, and supervising others, is essential. Candidates should also be able to read and comprehend workplace policies and prepare necessary reports and documentation. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
Desirable Qualifications
Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Coursework in criminal justice or a related field from a community college, college, or university, or equivalent training or experience, is advantageous. Proficiency in producing written reports using a computer and fluency in Spanish will be considered beneficial.
