Correctional Supervision Officer

Job Responsibilities
Oversees and directs the activities of Corrections Officers and Trainees within a correctional facility. Ensures the safety and security of the institution by supervising staff during assigned shifts. Engages in effective communication with management, personnel, visitors, and the public. Provides leadership and guidance to team members. Completes necessary training programs. Fosters a safe and efficient work environment.
Essential Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid Driver's License. Current certifications from the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) are necessary. Comprehensive understanding of correctional policies, procedures, and practices is essential. Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight. Proven skills in organizing, planning, scheduling, and supervising the work of others. Competence in reading and interpreting workplace policies and procedures, as well as preparing relevant reports and documentation. Ability to effectively receive, comprehend, follow, and convey both oral and written instructions.
Desirable Qualifications:
Prior experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Coursework in criminal justice or a related field from a community college, college, or university, or equivalent training or experience is advantageous. Proficiency in producing written reports using computer software is beneficial. Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
