Housing Unit Supervisor: Correctional Facility Management

Job Responsibilities
This position plays a vital role in fulfilling the agency's commitment to public safety by managing one or more housing units within a significant correctional facility. The incumbent will work closely with security personnel, treatment teams, maintenance crews, and support staff to ensure that inmates benefit from comprehensive reentry programs and services grounded in evidence-based practices.
Key Duties Include:
- Overseeing inmate classification and disciplinary actions.
- Managing programs and services tailored to inmate needs.
- Ensuring compliance with security operations and audit documentation.
- Supervising building maintenance and sanitation efforts.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or an equivalent certification. A thorough understanding of correctional operations, policies, and procedures is required. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills with institutional staff, inmates, and their families, as well as the ability to build and maintain positive relationships. Experience in preparing and delivering reports and presentations to varied audiences is essential, along with the capacity to make sound operational decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced knowledge in criminal justice, public administration, or a related human services field is advantageous. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered in lieu of educational preferences. Experience in supervising correctional staff and familiarity with security and treatment protocols in adult correctional settings is highly desirable. A solid understanding of evidence-based practices and reentry services for inmates is also preferred.
