Job Responsibilities

As a Correctional Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of Corrections Officers and Trainees within a correctional facility. Your role will involve ensuring a secure and safe environment by supervising and guiding staff during your assigned shift. Effective communication with management, staff, visitors, and the public is essential. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring your team, ensuring they complete necessary training, and maintaining a productive workforce.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid Driver's License and current DCJS certifications. A solid understanding of correctional policies and procedures is required, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and supervisory skills, and be capable of comprehending and following workplace policies and preparing relevant documentation. Effective oral and written communication skills are also necessary.

Desirable Qualifications

Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Candidates with coursework in criminal justice or related fields, or equivalent training, will be given preference. Proficiency in producing written reports using a computer and fluency in Spanish are also advantageous.
