About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Alex Ferry Foundation as a Strategic Communications and Programme Manager. As a key member of our small, dynamic staff team, you will provide support to the Executive Director in various areas, including communicating the foundation's work to key stakeholders, leading on and maintaining relationships with trade union groups, driving forward our community grants programme, and demonstrating the policy, research, and campaign impact of the foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate the foundation's work to key stakeholders through various channels, including written content, digital media, and design.
  • Lead on and maintain relationships with trade union groups, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Drive forward our community grants programme, managing complex timelines and grant-making processes.
  • Demonstrate the policy, research, and campaign impact of the foundation, providing strategic and managerial support to the Executive Director.
  • Provide administrative and motivational rigour to drive forward multiple grant-making programmes.

Requirements

  • A commitment to the foundation's vision, mission, and values, and to the broader cause of labour rights and trade unionism.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including writing content for different media, and the ability to convey complex issues succinctly and accessibly.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to present compelling and persuasive cases to internal team members and external stakeholders.
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to multitask and work at pace to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and the ability to work, communicate, and listen effectively at all levels internally and externally.
  • Proactive, solution-focussed, innovative, and self-motivated individual with a can-do attitude.
  • A team player, able to work both on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent digital skills and knowledge of current and future trends in digital and technological solutions.
  • Excellent numerical skills, with the ability to understand and present communications key performance indicator data.
  • Knowledge of GDPR regulations, as well as integrity and discretion over confidential information.
