About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Strategic Programme Manager to join our Strategy Team at the National Physical Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development, contracting, and management of high-profile programmes that support UK industry and bring real-world benefits.
You will work at a strategic level with government and academia to respond to the challenges and priorities of UK industry, translating cutting-edge science and engineering into impactful practical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, contract, and manage the delivery of assigned programmes, ensuring effective governance, project definition, resource allocation, and coordination.
- Manage the performance of a matrix team, developing their capability to ensure programme milestones are met, with all risk and dependencies well-managed.
- Engage with stakeholders at senior level, building confidence and influencing decision-making.
- Apply programme and project management techniques to get the best out of teams operating in a matrix environment.
- Present complex information effectively to meet the needs of different audiences, driving progress and decision-making.
Requirements:
- Experience in programme management, ideally in a science or research-led environment.
- Proven track record of delivering complex programmes, with a strong understanding of programme governance and project coordination.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build confidence at senior level.
- Highly proficient in programme and project management techniques, with experience of working in a matrix environment.
- Managing Successful Programme (Practitioner) qualification.
