About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Strategic Programme Manager to join our Strategy Team at the National Physical Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the development, contracting, and management of high-profile programmes that support UK industry and bring real-world benefits.
As a Strategic Programme Manager, you will work at a strategic level with government and academia to respond to the challenges and priorities of UK industry. You will lead on developing and managing the delivery of programmes, ensuring individual projects are effectively defined, resourced, and coordinated.
You will also manage the performance of a matrix team, developing their capability to ensure the programme reaches its milestones, with all risk and dependencies well-managed. Effective stakeholder management and engagement will be central to the success of your programme.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage high-profile programmes that support UK industry and bring real-world benefits.
- Work at a strategic level with government and academia to respond to the challenges and priorities of UK industry.
- Lead on developing and managing the delivery of programmes, ensuring individual projects are effectively defined, resourced, and coordinated.
- Manage the performance of a matrix team, developing their capability to ensure the programme reaches its milestones, with all risk and dependencies well-managed.
- Develop and implement effective stakeholder management and engagement strategies.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience in programme management, ideally in a science or research-led environment.
- Proven track record of delivering complex programmes and projects.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work at a strategic level with government and academia.
- Experience of managing matrix teams and developing their capability.
- Managing Successful Programme (Practitioner) qualification.
