Position Overview

The successful candidate will deliver clinical, managerial, and professional guidance to nursing personnel across all tiers within their designated area, ensuring that nursing services are provided at the highest standard and that nursing resources are utilized efficiently.

The role involves active participation in the ongoing execution of the nursing and midwifery strategy, in close collaboration with the Senior Matron.

Key responsibilities include overseeing the Matron functions, ensuring the achievement and assessment of quality and clinical performance metrics, and guaranteeing that all service delivery aspects are grounded in patient and service user experiences.

This position plays a vital role in service development and enhancement.

The post holder will also support the establishment and maintenance of robust governance frameworks while ensuring that nursing care consistently meets the highest standards, with a strong focus on dignity and compassion.

Additionally, the role includes direct line management of nursing staff within the department.

It is expected that the post holder will dedicate at least 20% of their time to clinical practice.

  • Registered Nurse (Adult/Child)
  • Nursing Academic Qualification - Degree/DipHE
  • Academic - Emergency Nurse or equivalent specialist course related to Critical or Acute Care
  • Mentorship Qualification
  • Current Practice Assessor
  • Evidence of Leadership Management development
  • ALS/PILS or willingness to complete within the next 12 months

  • Evidence of MSc or progress towards

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience at Band 7 or equivalent in an acute care environment
  • Clinical expertise pertinent to the role
  • Leadership in clinical governance and patient safety
  • Achievement of high-quality patient care through evidence-based practices
  • Management/Clinical Leadership experience
  • Proven track record of leading and implementing change
  • Experience in analyzing complex issues and executing viable solutions
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, operationally, and creatively while prioritizing work programs amidst competing demands
