Job Overview

The successful candidate will deliver clinical, managerial, and professional guidance to nursing personnel across all tiers within their designated area, ensuring that nursing services are provided at the highest standard and that nursing resources are utilized efficiently.

The individual will actively participate in the continuous execution of the nursing and midwifery strategy, collaborating closely with the Senior Matron.

Key responsibilities will include fulfilling the essential functions of the Matron role, which involves the achievement and oversight of quality and clinical performance metrics, ensuring that all aspects of service delivery are grounded in the experiences of patients and service users.

The role is pivotal in the advancement of services.

The post holder will aid in the establishment and maintenance of robust governance frameworks while guaranteeing that nursing care consistently meets the highest standards, with a strong focus on dignity and compassion.

The individual will oversee the management of nursing staff within the department.

A minimum of 20% of the role will be dedicated to clinical practice.

Educational & Professional Credentials

Essential

Registered Nurse (Adult/Child) Nursing Academic Qualification - Degree/DipHE Academic - Emergency Nurse or equivalent specialist course related to Critical or Acute Care Mentorship Qualification. Current Practice Assessor. Evidence of Leadership Management development. ALS/PILS or willingness to obtain within the next 12 months.

Evidence of MSc or in progress

Experience Requirements

Essential

Minimum of 3 years' experience at Band 7 or equivalent in an acute environment. Clinical expertise pertinent to the position. Leadership in clinical governance and patient safety. Proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care through evidence-based practices. Management/Clinical Leadership experience Experience in successfully leading and implementing change initiatives. Proficiency in analyzing complex issues and devising practical solutions. Ability to think strategically, operationally, and creatively while prioritizing work programs amidst competing demands. Evidence of teaching and developing junior staff both informally and formally.

Desirable Experience

Experience managing finances within a budget, including delivering cost improvements.
