Job Purpose:

The Strategic Category Leader will collaborate with the broader commercial team to leverage category insights and expertise to enhance the Veetee brand's market presence and retail strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the commercial team to deliver strategic insights that facilitate effective partnerships with retailers, driving brand expansion in product range and features. Engage with key retail partners to evaluate market dynamics, consumer preferences, and competitive actions to uncover growth avenues. Employ data analytics to evaluate category performance, pinpoint deficiencies, and propose strategies for optimizing product assortment and shelf allocation. Spearhead category management projects, encompassing assortment planning, pricing tactics, and promotional initiatives. Conduct category management reviews with clients, offering expert insights to guide discussions. Actively participate in new product development dialogues, sharing insights on market demands and opportunities derived from category assessments. Collaborate closely with the product development team to ensure consumer preferences align with new product ideas. Oversee the planning and execution of category strategies for new product introductions, including promotional strategies and in-store displays. Cultivate robust relationships with retail partners through consistent communication, data-driven insights, and collaborative business planning sessions. Perform comprehensive market research and analysis to remain updated on industry trends, emerging products, and the competitive landscape. Develop and deliver detailed category reviews to retailers, emphasizing insights and recommendations to stimulate business growth. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure the effective implementation of category and new product launch strategies. Provide training and support to sales teams on category management principles and effective data utilization. Supply category and brand performance data for competitor assessments, including actionable recommendations. Undertake any other reasonable duties related to the role or assigned projects to achieve overall objectives.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a similar role within an FMCG environment. Demonstrated success in implementing category strategies that have led to business growth. Experience in presenting to external stakeholders. Ability to influence and negotiate with teams across all levels. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, or a related discipline. Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in data analysis tools and market research methodologies. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex data-driven insights to both internal and external stakeholders. Proven ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with retail partners. Strategic mindset with a focus on results. Proficiency in category management software and tools. Experience in new product development and launches is advantageous. Must exhibit enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity, and a strong customer focus. Adaptable to changing business priorities and challenges.
