Job Objective:

The Product Category Strategist will collaborate with the broader commercial team to leverage category insights and expertise to enhance the Veetee brand portfolio and its retail visibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the commercial team to deliver strategic insights on optimizing Veetee's partnerships with retailers, driving brand expansion in product range and features. Engage with primary retail partners to evaluate market dynamics, consumer trends, and competitive activities to uncover potential growth avenues. Employ data analytics to evaluate category performance, pinpoint deficiencies, and propose strategies for optimizing product assortment and shelf placement. Spearhead category management projects, encompassing assortment planning, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives. Conduct category management reviews with clients, providing expert insights during these discussions. Actively participate in new product development dialogues, offering insights on market demands and opportunities based on category evaluations. Collaborate closely with the product development team to ensure alignment between consumer preferences and new product ideas. Oversee the planning and execution of category strategies for new product introductions, including promotional tactics and in-store displays. Cultivate strong relationships with retail partners through consistent communication, data-driven insights, and cooperative business planning sessions. Perform thorough market research and analysis to remain updated on industry trends, emerging products, and the competitive landscape. Create and present detailed category reviews to retailers, emphasizing insights and recommendations to stimulate business growth. Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure effective implementation of category and new product launch strategies. Provide training and guidance to sales teams on category management principles and effective data utilization. Supply category and brand performance data for competitor assessments, including actionable recommendations. Undertake any other reasonable tasks associated with the role or projects assigned to achieve overall objectives.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a similar role within an FMCG organization. Demonstrated success in implementing category strategies that have led to business growth. Experience in presenting to external stakeholders. Proven ability to influence and negotiate with teams at all levels. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, or a related discipline. Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in data analysis tools and market research methodologies. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex data-driven insights to both internal and external stakeholders. Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with retail partners. Strategic thinker with a focus on results. Proficient in category management software and tools. Experience in new product development and launches is advantageous. Must possess enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity, and a strong customer-centric approach. Adaptable to changing business priorities and challenges.
