Job Objective:

The Strategic Category Leader will collaborate with the broader commercial team to leverage category insights and expertise to enhance the Veetee brand's market presence and retail performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Partner with the commercial team to deliver strategic insights that foster effective collaborations with retailers, driving brand expansion in product range and features. Engage with key retail partners to evaluate market dynamics, consumer preferences, and competitor strategies to uncover growth potential. Employ data analytics to monitor category performance, pinpoint deficiencies, and propose strategies for optimizing product assortment and shelf allocation. Spearhead category management projects, including product assortment planning, pricing tactics, and promotional strategies. Conduct category management discussions with clients, providing expert analysis to inform these dialogues. Actively participate in discussions regarding new product development, offering insights into market demands and opportunities based on category evaluations. Collaborate closely with the product development team to ensure alignment between consumer desires and new product ideas. Oversee the formulation and implementation of category strategies for new product introductions, including promotional initiatives and in-store displays. Cultivate robust relationships with retail partners through consistent communication, data-driven insights, and collaborative planning sessions. Perform comprehensive market research and analysis to remain updated on industry trends, emerging products, and competitive landscapes. Prepare and deliver detailed category reviews to retailers, emphasizing insights and recommendations to stimulate business growth. Work in tandem with internal cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and supply chain, to ensure the successful execution of category and new product launch strategies. Provide training and guidance to sales teams on category management principles and effective data utilization. Supply category and brand performance metrics for competitor assessments, including actionable recommendations. Undertake any other reasonable tasks associated with the role or projects assigned to achieve overall objectives.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a similar role within an FMCG organization. A successful track record of implementing category strategies that have led to business growth. Experience in presenting to external stakeholders. Proficient in influencing and negotiating with teams across all levels. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business, marketing, or a related discipline. Strong analytical capabilities with expertise in data analysis tools and market research methodologies. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex data-driven insights to both internal and external audiences. Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with retail partners. A strategic mindset with a focus on results. Proficiency in category management software and tools. Experience in new product development and launch is advantageous. Must exhibit enthusiasm, resilience, tenacity, and a strong customer-centric approach. Adaptable to changing business priorities and able to meet challenges head-on.
