Job Title: Digital Systems Trainer

Our client, a leading University, is seeking an experienced Digital Systems Trainer to join their Digital Skills and Development team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of digital capability initiatives across academic schools and professional services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Delivery of Training Sessions: Support the execution of the Digital Capabilities Strategy by designing and delivering effective training sessions for staff and student audiences, both in-person and online.
  • Digital Capabilities Needs Assessment: Assist in the promotion of the Jisc Discovery Tool, analysis of the Jisc Digital Experience Insights Survey results, consultations with schools and departments, and analysis of training and development feedback.
  • Technology Evaluation: Research, identify, and evaluate the effectiveness of technologies and resources being considered for the university's digital skills development offering, ensuring they meet high standards and are fit for purpose.
  • Skills Development Opportunities: Identify new and creative ways to leverage freely available software, personal devices, and university-provisioned technologies to ensure inclusive and accessible opportunities for skills development.
  • Support and Advice: Respond to requests from university colleagues regarding their personal digital skills development needs and the needs of those in their schools/departments.
  • Blended Learning Experiences: Provide technical and pedagogical support for the design and development of engaging and effective blended learning experiences.
  • Administration and Digital Badging: Manage administration and digital badging/credential systems to validate skills development and provide recognition.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Substantial proven experience in supporting the design and delivery of live synchronous and/or in-person training sessions, across one or more areas of digital skills development to small and large audiences.
  • Online Course Development: Substantial proven experience in supporting the development of online self-study course materials that are high in quality, engaging, and effective.
  • Learning Resources: Experience in producing learning resources using creative tools like iSpring, Captivate, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Digital Badging/Credentials: Experience in using digital badging/credentials to recognize skills development, provide motivation, and provide validation.
Knowledge and Ability:
  • Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework: Knowledge and application of the Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework and/or other similar frameworks and tools used to assess development needs.
  • Pedagogies: Knowledge and application of pedagogies appropriate for blended and flexible approaches to learning and teaching.
  • Interaction Design: Knowledge of interaction design principles, including digital accessibility standards.
  • Copyright and Data Protection: Knowledge of copyright laws and General Data Protection Regulation and their application in the HE sector.
  • Technology Leverage: The ability to identify and leverage available technologies, including those common in higher education institutions, the workplace, or the home environment, into digital skills development opportunities.
