About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Systems Trainer to join our team at Hays Technology. As a key member of our Digital Skills and Development team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of digital capability initiatives across academic schools and/or professional SBUs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Delivery of Training Sessions: Support the execution of the Digital Capabilities Strategy by designing and delivering training sessions (in person and online) for staff and student audiences.
  2. Digital Capabilities Needs Assessment: Support the digital capabilities needs assessment activities, including the promotion of the Jisc Discovery Tool, analysis of the Jisc Digital Experience Insights Survey results, consultations with SBUs, and the analysis of training and development feedback.
  3. Research and Evaluation: Research, identify, and evaluate the effectiveness of technologies and resources being considered as part of the university's digital skills development offering to ensure they are of a high quality and are fit for purpose.
  4. Skills Development and Accessibility: Identify new and creative ways to leverage freely available software, personal devices, and University provisioned technologies to ensure opportunities for skills development are inclusive and accessible.
  5. Support and Advice: Respond to support and advice requests from University colleagues regarding their personal digital skills development needs, and the needs of those in their schools/departments.
  6. Blended and Flexible Learning: Provide technical and pedagogical support for the design and development of blended and flexible learning experiences that are both engaging and effective.
  7. Administration and Digital Badging: Management of administration and digital badging/credential systems to validate skills development and provide recognition.
Requirements
  1. Proven Experience: Substantial proven experience in supporting the design and delivery of live synchronous and/or in-person training sessions, across one or more areas of digital skills development to small and large audiences.
  2. Online Course Development: Substantial proven experience in supporting the development of online self-study course materials that are high in quality, engaging, and effective.
  3. Learning Resource Development: Experience in producing learning resources, using creative tools like iSpring, Captivate, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  4. Digital Badging/Credentials: Experience in using digital badging/credentials to recognise skills development, provide motivation, and to provide validation.
Knowledge and Ability
  1. Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework: Knowledge and application of the Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework and/or other similar frameworks and tools used to assess development needs.
  2. Pedagogies for Blended Learning: Knowledge and application of pedagogies appropriate for blended and flexible approaches to learning and teaching.
  3. Interaction Design Principles: Knowledge of interaction design principles, including digital accessibility standards.
  4. Copyright and Data Protection: Knowledge of copyright laws and General Data Protection Regulation and their application in the HE sector.
  5. Technology Leverage: The ability to identify and leverage available technologies, including those that are common in higher education institutions, the workplace, or the home environment (Microsoft, Google, Apple, Android) into digital skills development opportunities.
