Job Overview

An exceptional opportunity is available for a motivated and skilled individual to become a part of our esteemed Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner team. Are you eager to witness patient progress throughout their entire journey and offer your expertise to our nurse-led service? The Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner Team is committed to delivering evidence-based care, advancing clinical practices, and engaging in academic research. As a Band 5 Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner Associate, you will assist the Band 6 Nurse Practitioner in managing their patient caseload and liaising with the multidisciplinary team and other specialist units. The ideal candidate will be involved in optimizing patient care for surgical procedures and guiding patients through their entire pathway, from pre-operative assessments to post-operative recovery. Additionally, you will play a vital role in educating staff at all levels, as well as patients, while contributing to the ongoing development of our services and pathways. We take pride in our team's achievements and actively encourage initiatives that enhance the patient experience. Our commitment to professional growth and support is unwavering for those who join our team.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner Associate is to assist the Band 6 Nurse Practitioner with their patient caseload. This includes managing complex elective orthopaedic patients who may present with multiple co-morbidities requiring pre-surgical optimization. You will independently conduct consent clinics and provide support to Nurse Practitioners in urgent care and follow-up clinics. We expect the successful candidate to accurately document the conditions and progress of pre and post-operative patients, promptly reporting any concerns to the Nurse Practitioner or senior nursing staff.

As a teaching hospital, we encourage you to share your knowledge and mentor within the broader elective orthopaedic team, fostering the development of students and providing insights into the daily operations of our surgical services.
