We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to become a member of our esteemed Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Specialist Practitioner team. Are you eager to witness patient advancements throughout their entire treatment journey while offering your expertise and support to our nurse-led service? Our team is dedicated to delivering evidence-based care, clinical excellence, and engaging in academic research. As an Elective Orthopaedic Specialist Nurse, you will be responsible for managing a diverse caseload of complex Elective Orthopaedic patients, ensuring effective communication with the multidisciplinary team and other specialist units. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing patients for surgical procedures and guiding them through their experience from pre-operative assessments to post-operative care and eventual discharge.
In this role, you will also be expected to provide educational support to colleagues across all levels, as well as to patients, and contribute to the ongoing development of our services. We take pride in the initiatives our team undertakes and encourage projects that enhance the patient experience. We are committed to offering growth and support to all new team members.
Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Elective Orthopaedic Nurse is to collaborate with various specialist teams to manage the intricate needs of Elective Orthopaedic patients. These individuals often present with multiple co-existing health conditions that require careful management before and after surgical interventions. The specialist nursing team independently conducts consent clinics prior to surgeries, providing essential support to both patients and staff in ward environments, as well as follow-up consultations once patients have returned home. Additionally, the Elective Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioners oversee a nurse-led urgent access clinic for patients experiencing post-operative complications.
As a teaching institution, we expect you to share your knowledge and mentor within the broader elective orthopaedic team, nurturing students and offering insights into the daily operations of our surgical services.
