About the Role

This is a specialist practitioner position within the field of Infection Prevention Control and sepsis at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and assist the IPC Team in providing a service to the Trust in reducing the incidence of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Review, formulate, implement, and educate evidence-based practices to ensure national standards and agreed objectives and targets are met.
  • Act as a strong patient advocate, ensuring that the care of patients reflects best clinical standards and that all patients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Provide specialist advice on the planning of individual nursing care of patients with infectious conditions.
  • Investigate outbreaks of infection within the Trust and put control measures in place.
  • Identify infection control risks and plan preventative measures with clinical teams.

  • Identification and assessment of complex clinical and non-clinical issues, implementing resolutions, and monitoring/auditing outcomes.
  • Participation in education and training of identified staff groups, linking staff, patients, and carers.
  • Utilisation and ensuring others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data available.
  • Production of reports and utilisation of data to inform, predict, and educate.
  • Management of expected and unexpected clinical events requiring high but unpredictable levels of physical effort.
  • Support of patients, carers, and staff during difficult situations arising in the clinical area.
  • Promotion and monitoring of adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
