Job Overview

The Ultrasound Support Specialist plays a vital role within the ultrasound departments, providing essential assistance to both patients and clinical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, dependable, and highly motivated individual to become part of our committed team. As a Band 2 Assistant, you will collaborate with a large clinical workforce across various locations, delivering support to a diverse range of professionals, including Consultants, Nurses, and Sonographers within the General Ultrasound Department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting patients in their preparation for, and during, routine and specialized imaging procedures.
  2. Establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients to enhance their experience.
  3. Observing and caring for patients while they await examinations, promptly relaying any concerns to qualified staff.
  4. Verifying patient identification and documentation in line with departmental protocols.
  5. Supporting Radiologists, Sonographers, and Nurses in conducting examinations, ensuring patient welfare is prioritized.
  6. Facilitating service delivery to streamline workflow and support operations within specialized areas.
  7. Maintaining a clean and safe environment, adhering to Trust cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards.
  8. Performing routine maintenance on equipment and participating in departmental quality assurance activities.
  9. Understanding and applying the principles of Radiation Safety as per national and local regulations.
  10. Participating in 'Out of Hours' rosters to support comprehensive service delivery.
  11. Providing support across multiple sites, ensuring effective communication between the department and all service users.
  12. Assisting in the implementation of both manual and electronic information systems to ensure accurate data collection and recording.
  13. Facilitating stock movement and linen handling in accordance with infection control standards.
