Job Summary:

St Basils is seeking a skilled and compassionate Homeless Prevention Worker to join our team in Coventry. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with young people, families, and other organizations to provide holistic support and prevent homelessness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure a coordinated response to housing and support needs.
  • Provide prompt and proactive support to young people, engaging them in the assessment process and signposting them to relevant services and agencies.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, providing information, advice, and guidance to ensure young people receive the necessary support and services.
  • Deliver an Advice and Wellbeing service to young people at risk of homelessness, working closely with local authorities, housing providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake background checks to assess risk and need, working with landlords, families, and other relevant parties.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with regulated and approved Private Landlords, Social Housing Providers, and Supported Accommodation Providers.
  • Carry out homelessness prevention work, applying mediation and conciliation techniques as necessary.
  • Report on outcomes, manage and prioritize your caseload, and evaluate each case to determine the most effective course of action.
  • Safeguard young people and vulnerable adults at risk, escalating concerns to statutory services as necessary.
  • Attend panel meetings and review/case conference meetings to discuss young people's cases.
  • Provide advice and support to a range of stakeholders, including Service Heads, Social Workers, and other professionals.
  • Develop and deliver training and briefings to partnership agencies on our service and the importance of an integrated approach to supporting young people.
  • Participate in local on-call arrangements, providing an out-of-hours service as required.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with young people, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong assessment and case management skills.
  • Knowledge of housing and support services, including homelessness prevention and intervention.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
