About the Team:

We are seeking a Privacy and Commercial Legal Advisor to enhance our dynamic legal team. The legal department plays a pivotal role in supporting our rapid growth and collaborates closely with leaders across the organization. Our team partners with various departments to provide innovative solutions that facilitate business expansion while effectively managing risks.

About the Role:

This position can be performed from our London office or remotely within the United Kingdom. The Privacy and Commercial Legal Advisor will take the lead in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, with a particular emphasis on data privacy considerations. Additionally, this role will contribute to the development and maintenance of AlphaSense's privacy compliance framework. Reporting to the VP of Legal, the Advisor will work collaboratively with teams across the organization, including Sales, Marketing, Information Security, Product, and Content, to support AlphaSense's ambitious growth objectives. This role is crucial to our success and will have an immediate impact on our vibrant, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review agreements related to data privacy, including addenda and amendments;
  • Provide guidance on international privacy and data protection regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws;
  • Draft and review commercial contracts, offering transactional support across the organization with a strong focus on sales;
  • Assist in the establishment of AlphaSense's global privacy and data protection practices;
  • Stay updated on evolving legal standards and regulations that affect commercial agreements;
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of playbooks related to privacy and data protection to streamline legal processes as the company scales;
  • Collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment across various functional teams and time zones;
  • Provide legal and strategic business insights to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures; and
  • Support the legal team on corporate and general legal matters as required.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in the U.K.;
  • At least 4 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, particularly in the software and technology sectors, with a focus on GDPR and global privacy compliance;
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiating various commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements, Service Agreements, Statements of Work, Service Level Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements;
  • Strong business acumen and a commitment to providing exceptional client service, balancing legal risk with business needs;
  • Personable, authentic, and approachable, with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to advocate for challenging positions with patience;
  • Effective communicator capable of engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders;
  • Experience with contract management systems, information security, intellectual property, or financial services is advantageous.
