Manager of Technical Support Services

The Manager of Technical Support Services plays a crucial role in overseeing relationships and processes between Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), Connection Point Operators (CPOs), and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). This position is essential for ensuring seamless service delivery from ESP, facilitating the effective rollout of electric vehicle (EV) programs, and establishing ESP as a preferred partner for ICPs.

A minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of scope packages for target locations, typically involving EV charging Low Voltage/High Voltage connections, for ICP tendering.
  • Conduct evaluations of private networks prior to adoption.
  • Manage the route selection process from Point of Connection (POC) to site, identifying optimal solutions.
  • Oversee the ESP ICP Procurement System, including the maintenance and enhancement of Ratecard solutions.
  • Implement ESP's program support methodology, which includes tracking ICP commercial and tendering progress, monitoring ICP delivery progress, and resolving issues at problem sites.
  • Coordinate new connection designs with partners, land rights, equipment sourcing, specifications, and the ICP supply chain, along with ESP's internal asset management processes.
  • Direct the POC process, ensuring effective coordination of activities between internal teams and customers for successful outcomes.
  • Expedite and accelerate POC and related requests, supported by the technical administration team.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and transparency regarding the status of POCs for all stakeholders.
  • Secure viable POCs for end-users, negotiating and persuading DNOs as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with DNOs to bolster the ESP proposition.
  • Engage with ESP's technical and engineering teams as required.
  • Support the evaluation of POC viability by identifying value engineering opportunities.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement.

Person Specification

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the construction, electrical, or utilities industry.
  • Proven experience in managing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen, including procurement and contract management.
  • Successful track record in dealings with DNOs.
  • Knowledge of Power Distribution (HV & LV), typically acquired from DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, or M&E.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
