About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team within a mental health setting. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality care and support to individuals facing mental health challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate patients' needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions, both individually and in group settings, tailored to each patient's unique circumstances.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and reports.
  • Liaise with external agencies and services to facilitate seamless transitions and support for patients.
Essential Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • Proven experience in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, implementation, and evaluation within a mental health context.
  • A strong understanding of patient-centered approaches and the importance of user/care involvement.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation governing mental health care.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to ethical practice and adherence to professional standards.
Desirable Skills and Experience

The following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • Experience working in a secure setting, such as a prison, young offender institute, or forensic service.
  • Supervisory experience with other staff members or occupational therapy students.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and audit principles.
