Duckworth, a distinguished publisher of quality non-fiction and literary fiction, is seeking a dedicated Publicity Officer. Our focus spans various genres, including memoirs, biographies, history, popular science, psychology, and light-hearted fiction through our Farrago imprint.

As a Publicity Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing Duckworth and Farrago's social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook), creating engaging and innovative content to highlight our publications.
  • Assisting in the organization of book trade events that showcase our authors and enhance our brand visibility.
  • Supporting internal publicity initiatives while collaborating closely with the lead publicist.
  • Identifying promotional avenues and crafting compelling pitches.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with media representatives.
  • Generating publicity updates and reports to aid the sales team.
  • Maintaining records of all press, radio, and television coverage.
  • Handling general administrative duties related to publicity, including mail distribution and database upkeep.

This position is ideal for an enthusiastic and proactive individual with a keen interest in publishing, eager to develop their skills within a supportive team environment. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in publicity is essential, along with proficiency in social media, strong communication abilities, and a solid understanding of press and media channels. The ability to efficiently gather and organize information, demonstrate initiative and attention to detail, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting is crucial.

You will possess the creativity and dedication to effectively promote books, maximizing their potential for success throughout their lifecycle. A passion for reading and being a collaborative team member is essential.

Salary range: £26,000-£28,000 pro rata, based on experience.
