The Office for Nuclear Regulation plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of nuclear operations across the UK. Our commitment is to protect society by overseeing safe practices at nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in various roles within the sector, from overseeing new nuclear projects to managing the decommissioning of existing facilities.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections on-site.
- Evaluate safety documentation and oversee intervention initiatives.
- Participate in investigations, research assignments, and mentorship opportunities.
As a specialist inspector in civil engineering, your role will involve regulating the design, construction, testing, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of diverse structures, ensuring their safety and security.
Required Qualifications:
- A degree in civil and/or structural engineering.
- Chartered membership in a relevant professional organization.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in structural design considering hazard loading.
- Comprehensive understanding of complex structural behavior.
- Familiarity with nuclear and high-hazard facilities.
- Capability to analyze and provide insights on technical matters.
- Excellent communication and decision-making abilities.

This position is based at any ONR office location, with travel requirements across the UK and internationally. A full driving license is necessary, and a hybrid working policy is in effect.
