About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector to join our team at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. As a Nuclear Safety Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear facilities in the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of nuclear facilities to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve nuclear safety and reduce risks
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including licensees, industry experts, and regulatory bodies, to share knowledge and best practices
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on human factors and nuclear safety to support the development of safety cases and regulatory decisions
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory policies and procedures related to nuclear safety and human factors
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good honours degree in a relevant field, such as nuclear engineering, human factors, or a related discipline
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution, such as the Institution of Nuclear Engineers or the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society
  • Proven experience in a nuclear safety or human factors role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions
