Nuclear Safety Inspector Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector to join our team at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. As a Nuclear Safety Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear facilities across the UK.

About the Role

As an Internal Hazards Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing and mitigating internal hazards that could impact the safety of nuclear facilities. This will involve reviewing safety cases, conducting site inspections, and providing expert advice to duty holders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and mitigate internal hazards at nuclear facilities
  • Review and approve safety cases for nuclear facilities
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide expert advice to duty holders on internal hazards and safety case development
  • Collaborate with other regulatory inspectors to ensure consistent application of regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, physical sciences, mathematics)
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution
  • Previous experience in internal hazards within the nuclear industry or equivalent
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
