Job Summary
The Office for Nuclear Regulation is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector - Control and Instrumentation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our regulatory team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of nuclear facilities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections and assessments of control and instrumentation systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to nuclear site licensees on the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control and instrumentation systems.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with control and instrumentation systems to ensure the safe operation of nuclear facilities.
- Collaborate with other regulatory experts to develop and implement regulatory policies and guidance.
- Conduct investigations and provide expert testimony as required.
Requirements
- Degree-level qualification in a relevant field, such as engineering or physics.
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution, such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
- Proven experience in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control and instrumentation systems in a nuclear or high-hazard environment.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, such as BS IEC 61513 and BS IEC 61508.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must hold or be able to obtain National Security Vetting clearance at SC level.
Location
This post may be undertaken from a base at any one of ONR's office locations (Bootle, Cheltenham, or London). You may be eligible for relocation package up to £15,000.
This post requires some travel including overnight stays predominantly across the United Kingdom and occasionally abroad.
