About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Inspector to join our team at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. As a key member of our regulatory team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of nuclear facilities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of nuclear facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and evaluate safety cases to ensure they meet the necessary standards.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to licensees on internal hazards and safety case development.
  • Collaborate with other regulatory teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of internal hazards and safety risks.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in internal hazards and safety case development.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in engineering, physical sciences, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Previous experience in internal hazards within the nuclear industry or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable background in the assessment of complex safety systems.
  • Experience of implementing safety solutions in a hazardous industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and design and engineering principles.
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze, and provide judgments on new and complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and influencing skills.
