Youth Support Specialist

About the Role:
If you are dedicated to making a significant impact by supporting at-risk youth, we invite you to consider this opportunity.
We operate a specially designed facility where we assist young individuals aged 16-24 who are currently facing homelessness. Our residents present diverse support needs and benefit from our 24/7 assistance. The primary objective of our service is to help these young people enhance their independent living capabilities while reintegrating them into the community.
As a Support Mentor, your responsibilities will vary widely. You may assist residents with immigration processes, provide support for substance misuse issues, engage in recreational activities, or accompany them on wellness walks. Facilitating activities for the young individuals in our care is also a key part of your role.
During their time with us, residents will work on developing essential life skills, including self-esteem building, relationship management, cooking, and budgeting, alongside therapeutic pursuits such as art and gardening workshops.
We tailor our support for education, training, or employment to meet the unique needs and aspirations of each individual, ranging from initial guidance and volunteering opportunities to referrals for educational programs, apprenticeships, and job placements. Our efforts are complemented by collaboration with local organizations and specialized support services, focusing on well-being, self-care, mental and physical health, life skills, and vocational training.
A crucial aspect of your role will be to help residents connect with necessary external support services. This will require you to build and maintain relationships with various organizations, guiding residents through processes to access benefits, housing, and educational resources.
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and an understanding of the factors contributing to homelessness, as well as the challenges faced by individuals in these situations, are essential for this position. Familiarity with both statutory and voluntary resources available to those experiencing homelessness is also important.
Our Commitment:
Evolve Housing + Support is an equal opportunity employer, actively encouraging applications from all community sectors, including individuals with personal experiences of homelessness. We prioritize equality, diversity, and inclusion in our recruitment processes, seeking candidates from all backgrounds regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
Additional Information:
Applicants must possess the right to work in the UK, as we do not hold a sponsorship license.
Working Hours:
This role requires flexibility to work shifts on a pre-planned rolling rota, covering 5 out of 7 days a week, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Benefits:
- Over 6 weeks of annual leave (increasing with service)
- Option to buy or sell an additional week of holiday each year
- Employee-funded DBS checks
- Occupational sick pay
- Employer-contributed pension scheme
- 4x Life Assurance
- Medical Cash Back Plan
- Employee Assistance & Rewards Programme
- Cycle to work scheme
