We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Youth Worker to join our team at Caxton Youth Organisation. Our organisation is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for disabled and autistic young people to make friends, learn new skills, build confidence, and be themselves.

The purpose of this role will be to provide innovative, exciting and accessible youth work and youth projects to disabled young people aged 11-25 years old. This will include supporting the running of girls group aged 11 – 25 years old, working alongside Caxton Youth Organisation colleagues to support children and young people from the Westminster community to run our youth programmes, and supporting the delivery of our holiday programmes; and residentials providing overnight disturbance cover.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering youth projects that are tailored to the needs of disabled young people
  • Supporting the development of girls group aged 11 – 25 years old
  • Working with colleagues to support the delivery of youth programmes
  • Providing overnight disturbance cover during residentials

Requirements for this role include:

  • A minimum of 1 years experience in the youth work sector
  • A minimum in Level 2 Youth Work
  • Excellent written and communication skills at all levels
  • A strong understanding of the principles of youth work as a distinctive practice of informal education and voluntary participation
  • A good understanding of inclusive practice including different communication methods e.g. Makaton
  • Advanced use of Microsoft packages
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative
  • Ability to travel and to work unsociable hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
