Role Overview

As the Public Affairs and Political Engagement Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in executing impactful advocacy strategies alongside the Politics & Public Affairs team. This position offers a unique chance to engage in advocacy efforts and foster relationships with key political stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monitoring, analysis, and dissemination of UK political intelligence to support advocacy initiatives, including the creation of our weekly Political Round-Up.
  • Help establish and nurture relationships with political contacts in Westminster, enhancing Save the Children's visibility and influence on critical issues affecting children.
  • Develop content for regular briefings directed at MPs, Peers, MEPs, government officials, and other decision-makers regarding essential policies and campaigns.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to distill and communicate complex data and policy concepts in accessible formats for political audiences.
  • Occasionally represent Save the Children at external meetings and events to advance our advocacy objectives and enhance our profile.

Candidate Profile:

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • A solid understanding of the UK political landscape, gained through volunteer work, academic pursuits, or relevant professional experience.
  • A keen interest in the mechanisms of change, particularly the role of public affairs in advocacy.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize and effectively communicate complex information in writing to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in organizing events.
  • A commitment to the vision, mission, and values of Save the Children.
