About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Affairs Officer to join our team at the Nursing and Midwifery Council. As a key member of our Communications and Engagement Directorate, you will play a critical role in supporting our work to build and develop relationships with political stakeholders across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead our political monitoring work, keeping the NMC up to date with the latest political intelligence and ensuring that our public affairs activity is informed by the latest insight.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including politicians, policymakers, and other influencers.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the NMC's senior leadership team on public affairs and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the NMC to develop and implement effective public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Produce high-quality, persuasive written communications about complex issues, including policy briefs, stakeholder reports, and other materials.
Requirements
  • A keen interest in politics and stakeholder engagement, with a strong understanding of the UK's political landscape.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for creating change and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing and midwifery practice.
  • Experience of working in a similar role, preferably in a regulatory or professional body.
