Job Summary

As a Capacity Engineer Manager at Equinix, you will oversee the team responsible for maintaining critical facilities infrastructure in our data centers. You will be the point of contact for critical issues and ensure the accuracy of installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement space planning and design strategies to maximize space utilization and optimize data center efficiency.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex and unique cage-cabinet design options, taking into account customer requirements, Equinix requirements, and physical site constraints.
  • Act as a mentor to senior capacity planners and below, providing support and guidance on complex space planning issues.
  • Solve complex, cross-functional issues with business implications that span multiple groups, identifying and understanding underlying issues and taking the lead to mitigate risks.
  • Work with site operations to ensure accurate documentation of added infrastructure and special installations, and lead site teams to ensure data and CAD drawings accurately reflect site installations.
  • Collaborate with various departments to monitor workload, redistribute tasks, and coordinate monthly reporting of capacity trends, availability, and accuracy of records.
  • Make recommendations to data center business owners to optimize data center efficiency and utilization, and proactively lead the business to solve complex problems.
  • Initiate and deliver capacity-related projects aligned with strategic objectives and key results, developing implementation approaches and success metrics.
Requirements
  • Proven years of related experience, with a strong understanding of data center operations and technical knowledge.
  • Intrinsic motivation to lead and support a team, with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience, with a strong understanding of business and technical concepts.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD 2D and handle databases and CRM software, with knowledge of agile working and agile working tools (ideally Jira).
  • Knowledge of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
